Edward first joined Balfour Beatty in 1995 as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor at Sellafield, on placement from Leeds Metropolitan University. He rejoined the company two years later, after graduating, as a Site Quantity Surveyor working on a wide range of projects in northern England.
By 2002, he had been promoted to Senior Quantity Surveyor, responsible for a number of projects in North Wales, the North West & Midlands, including a police headquarters, civic facilities and healthcare schemes.
Rising to the position of Commercial Manager in 2004, Edward now looks after Balfour Beatty’s bidding activities throughout the north of England, negotiating and agreeing traditional, design and build, PFI and LIFT contracts.
Edward’s rise through the ranks has been matched by an equally rapid progression through the Group’s training resources, starting with its graduate training programme, and storming through attendance at the Development Centre to successful completion first of Balfour Beatty Construction’s Management Development Programme, and then the Group’s own programme. Edward is also a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and has gained his Platinum CSCS Card.
No stranger to letters after his name, Edward is also more qualified than most to declare that there is never a dull day at Balfour Beatty. “If you enjoy a diverse and always interesting role, with the opportunity to create an impact, which will last, then there’s no better career to follow and no greater opportunity than Balfour Beatty.”
