Client: Derwent London Value:£15.5m Contract: JCT 2005 D&B Duration: 118 weeks In the heart of London's 'Noho' district, the Charlotte building sits just behind the junction of Oxford Street and Tottenham Court Road on a tight urban site. Designed by the award-wining Architects Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands, the Charlotte Building is a striking addition to a unique part of London's West End.
The new building provides seven floors of high specification office space, with excellent levels of natural light achieved through open plan floor plates, high ceilings and generous areas of clear glazing. There are 3 passenger lifts, a displacement air conditioning system and the office accommodation on the sixth floor has direct access to a landscaped roof terrace. The primary facades of the new RC frame are clad in a bespoke curtain wall system. At ground level a new landscaped granite courtyard around the building perimeter an Russell Durling from Derwent said “The completion of the Charlotte Building, 17 Gresse Street is a great achievement, and shows the determination of the Design Team and Balfour Beatty after what proved to be a difficult journey to enable construction to commence. The site team should all be very proud of the excellent building produced and we are extremely pleased with the result”. |
