Project: Metropolitan Wharf
Client: Great Portland Estates Value: £7.0m Duration: 35 weeks
Metropolitan Wharf was essentially the complete external refurbishment include the facade, windows and the roof whilst maintaining the key architectural industrial features which included cranes and teagle boards.
With so much of the surrounding area being re-developed for private residential use the local Conservation Officer played an important role in relation to the historical aspects of the building. Internal works saw core areas created including new toilets and lift in preparation for new modern office facilities. On the ground floor grit blasting of the stone and brickwork will pave the way for future restaurant use. Given the buildings location, external riverside works necessitated scaffolding to be erected off of the foreshore over the river, the lower levels of which were covered at high tide. |
