Described as a ‘vision for 21st century learning environments’ the first Centre for Learning within the Knowsley BSF project opened its doors earlier this year. Offering a more modern, light and bright spatial experience Christ the King Catholic and Church of England Centre for Learning was officially opened by the Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families, the Rt Hon Ed Balls MP.

Impressed by the new centre he said, “It is a great honour to open the centre. The facilities are fantastic and exciting. It is certainly one of the most dramatic entrances I have ever seen”.

This project involves the construction of seven new learning centres to replace the existing eleven secondary schools, two new primary schools and a SEN school in the Knowsley area. Demolition of the secondary schools is also included in the contract.

These state-of-the-art learning centres will not only regenerate local neighbourhoods but will also bring about sustainable change. Each learning centre will have extensive sports facilities, car parking and playgrounds.
