With the aim of radically improving Rotherham’s education estate, this project comprised the rebuilding, remodelling and refurbishing of nine primary schools and six secondary schools. Incorporating community use at five of the primary schools was a key element of this project.
Integral to all Balfour Beatty projects is a partnering approach. This involves fostering a team-based attitude between all parties involved. Working in close proximity to over 9,000 pupils across the scheme, meant that Roger Burman, Head Teacher Winterhill comprehensive School said: “When people visit the school their breath is taken away and, being in the heart of the community, we can now proudly share all the fantastic new facilities. Classrooms have been designed around teaching and now provide the ideal setting for learning the pupils love it. Their attitude is now one of respect and appreciation.” |
