Liverpool City Council has selected Balfour Beatty Construction as one of its three Framework Partners to help deliver its £175m Wave 2 BSF programme. Balfour Beatty will design and build two of these projects, which will replace four existing schools.

The first project will replace West Derby Secondary School and Ernest Cookson Special School with a new £24m school on a single site. The second project has a capital value of £32m and will replace Gateacre Secondary School and Hope Special School.

Liverpool City Council is aiming to significantly improve education provision through this Framework with accommodation capable of delivering a 21st century curriculum, ICT networks enabling 'anywhere anytime' learning, improved 14-19 vocational curriculum opportunities as well as providing learning resources for the whole community to use.
