In addition to the growing numbers of LIFT initiatives that Balfour Beatty is involved in, the Child Development Centre in Hackney was completed in Spring 2008 providing specialist care for children with learning disabilities.

Ensuring that the finished product would provide a practical and user-friendly work space, families, staff and the local community were consulted to develop the perfect design solution. Accommodation is spread over four floors and surrounds a central garden on the first floor, views onto which are offered through a double height entrance space.

A coloured curtain wall system was selected to engage the children visiting the facility.
