Project: University College London Hospitals
Client: UCLH NHS Trust Value: £190m Contract: Duration: 212 weeks
This scheme is the biggest and most ambitious hospital building project to reach completion in the history of the NHS.
The works associated with the 15 storey building included three basement levels penetrating seventeen meters below ground. This was particularly challenging given the adjacent, busy Euston Road and the three tube lines which ran underneath the site. The complex installation of specialist services, such as medical gases, meant thorough compliance checks were imperative prior to project handover. To meet this requirement, the project team devised a handover procedure, which was devised to ensure defect-free rooms, within programme. The system was established one year prior to project completion and was allocated weekly room handover targets, which were monitored and once satisfied, each room was sealed with a security swipe card. |
