Project:
Terminal 5 Rail Station, Interchange and Transit Track System Client: BAA Value: £204m Contract: D&B Duration: 68 weeks
April 2008 saw the eagerly awaited launch of Terminal 5, Heathrow, which has been recognised as one of the construction industry’s landmark projects. Balfour Beatty is the proud Principal Contractor of the main T5 station and interchange, which services the Heathrow Express from the main terminal and T5 B to Paddington Station.
The works undertaken included the fit-out of the entire station incorporating the construction, finishes, M&E systems and communication installations in all back of house areas, walls, front of house and platform areas. One of the most complex elements of the project included the construction of an interchange comprising a network of bridge links between the central car park and ten glazed passenger lifts encased in tall glass towers. |
