The two-phased project involved the demolition of outdated existing accommodation blocks and the provision of 584 ensuite bedrooms in Phase One and 300 ensuite bedrooms in Phase Two, for the junior ratings (non-commissioned ranks of the navy).

Associated communal areas, including laundry facilities, kitchens and TV rooms were also created. Disabled facilities were incorporated into some bathrooms and bedrooms as required.

The project has successfully replaced uninviting barracks accommodation with a high quality residential community which has helped regenerate the living centre of the naval base and contribute to the MoD desire to improve the living standards and morale of military personnel.
